Impressive Running from Country School Athletes

Country School Runners Set Personal Records at the New Balance and the Nike Indoor Track Championships

In an impressive display of speed, Country School students Luke Schupp and Tillie Killam blazed their way to victory at the New Balance and the Nike Indoor Track Championships, showcasing their talent against national competition.

An 8th Grader from Madison, Luke Schupp burst into the lead at the Nike Championships, in New York, with a personal record in the mile of 4:56, securing 1st place from Connecticut, ranking 10th in the Northeast, and 25th in the United States for his age.

A perennial All-American runner in cross country and track, 7th Grader Tillie Killam, from Madison, ran a personal best 5:35 mile at the New Balance Indoor Championship, in Boston, finishing 1st in Connecticut, 5th in the Northeast, and 11th for her age in the United States.

Running for Litchfield Track Club’s Racing Team, Luke’s and Tillie’s success is thanks to their dedication and hard work. Under the guidance of their Country School coaches, Adriana Castillo, Will McDonough, and John Fixx, both Luke and Tillie continue to improve their speed and stamina and push themselves to new heights.

Luke and Tillie are presently training for the upcoming Connecticut State Track Championships this spring, where they aim to continue their impressive performances and further solidify their place among the nation's best middle school runners.

Luke and Tillie are not only impressive runners. They are top academic students, multi-sport athletes, and musicians who continue to chase their dreams and inspire younger athletes.
