Discover Country

Welcome to The Country School

The Country School is a dynamic learning community where students in PreSchool through Grade 8 are encouraged to reach their highest, not only in school but also in life. At The Country School, learning comes alive each day through hands-on exploration and discovery.
Inspired teachers, small class sizes, and a culture that fosters a feeling of family allow for strong bonds to develop between students and teachers, so when students are tasked with trying something new — whether it's learning a math formula or scaling a rock face on an outdoor education trip — they face the challenge with confidence and determination.

Dear Prospective Families,

Welcome to The Country School, where we are committed to enrolling students who will make positive contributions to the community through academics, the arts, athletics, and service. We invite you to peruse our website for an overview of our application process and visit our campus so your family can witness firsthand the joys of learning at TCS, from PreSchool through Grade 8.

Throughout the entire application process, we will provide you with the necessary program information and the support you require. We understand that selecting the best school for your child is an important decision. Our admission process is inclusive and our team accessible. We will keep you informed of campus events — from celebrations of learning and concerts to family festivals and parent book discussions — and invite you to join us so that you can fully experience our community. • Rigorous Academics and Signature Programs

Our integrated curriculum aligns rigorous academics with a commitment to character and leadership development. Because we believe in preparing our students for success, The Country School is committed to advancing 21st Century skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Our Signature programs: Elmore Leadership, STEAM, Public Speaking, Outdoor Education, and Global Citizenship are some key areas in which we foster these skills. Because we seek to educate the whole child, The Country School is also committed to vital arts and athletics programs, offering opportunities for individual growth.
  • Classrooms without Walls

In addition to “traditional” classrooms, our largest — and most valued — classroom by far is our 23-acre campus. Routinely, our students can be found, conducting science experiments in our Children's Garden, collecting specimens on the nature trail, or learning what it means to be a friend during outdoor recess.
  • Learning and Discovery All Year Long

Learning and discovery take place year-round on our campus. We offer a vibrant Summer Fun and Learning program, where participants are invited to explore their passions and discover new ones. We also offer before- and after-school and enrichment programs.
  • Fostering a Feeling of Family

Because they feel safe in our familial environment, students dare to try new things, and our community celebrates the discovery of each talent. Older students and younger students form lasting friendships through our Reading Buddies program, as they share books and activities throughout the years. The entire community, PreSchool-Grade 8, comes together regularly for All School Meetings and assemblies and large-scale service learning projects.
  • Making a Difference in the World

Country School students serve their communities and the larger world, confident that they can make a difference.

"I am not sure there are adequate words for me to be able to fully express how grateful I am to The Country School staff and faculty and their education and care of my children. The school works hard to maintain the strong sense of community that it has always had and is well known for."
