Girls' Varsity Basketball Travel to Williams

Excited for our first road trip, we loaded up the van and headed up I-95 to New London to take on Williams. In spite of pre-game snacks and energizing music on the way, we struggled to find our offensive rhythm and lost 25-7 to older, more experienced opponents. In spite of the score, the girls played harder and more determined as the game progressed, and our ball movement improved steadily. Theodora (2) hit an impressive long range jumper, Claire (3) had a hard fought second chance basket after a strong rebound plus a foul shot, and Caitlin (2) thrilled the team with a last second power move under the basket to score at the buzzer. Gritty defense and enthusiastic cheering characterized many others’ contributions. As we left the gym, the girls received many compliments on their play and sportsmanship from the Williams’ fans, which felt just as valuable as any outcome.

We look forward to our next game at home versus Foote on Tuesday 1/21 at 3:45.
