Girls' Varsity Basketball vs Pine Point School

On Monday, the team hosted visiting Pine Point, taking a 29-20 loss. Some early, first game jitters on our part combined with some impressive outside shooting by the Pine Point guards saw us down 12-4 at the end of the first quarter. Unphased and led by our veteran 8th graders Mia, Claire (10), Anna (4), Theodora, Katie and Liv, who inspired the team to play tough defense, rebound and protect the ball better, we were able to rally to all but match our opponents scoring quarter by quarter for the rest of the game. 7th graders Oakley and Quinn (6) contributed key minutes and court leadership at point guard with Caitlin, Charlie and newcomer Maddie, snagging key rebounds and energizing the team with their fiery defense. The takeaways from this game, especially the resilience to bounce back after the slow start and the encouragement the players showed each other, will be terrific building blocks for the rest of the season.
