Country Plays IDS to a Tie

Jason Wainio
It was a very heated battle between the Coyotes of IDS and the Owls of TCS.  The 8th grade boys and girls joined forces for the coed match.  Oliver Milligan got the game off to a rousing start.  Streaking down the right side of the pitch, Oliver took a shot from a difficult angle, and it found the back of the net.  Country led 1-0.  The rest of the first half remained scoreless as Will Pappas did a tremendous job parrying away several blasts from IDS.  In the second half, an IDS player was taken down in the box and awarded a penalty kick.  The first attempt was lofted well over the goal, unfortunately, a TCS player had crossed into the penalty area early, and so the referee awarded IDS a second chance.  This time, the ball found the back of the net.  A few moments later, a soaring punt from Will Pappas found the foot of Jace Coassin.  Jace slipped the ball past the IDS keeper to make the score 2-1.  In the dwindling seconds of the game, an IDS cross found an unmarked player in the penalty area, and he one-touched the ball into the net.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.  It was a really spirited match with a lot of action on both sides!
